Mixed-Mode Quantitative Research | Jordan | 250 Women | 3 Products

The Client Objective Nexus JO was commissioned to conduct an in-home product-use study evaluating three handwash samples among 250 women in Jordan. The study aimed to understand the consumer experience at different stages of product use, including perceptions during handwashing, immediately after drying and the longevity of the fragrance over three days. The Research Design Nexus JO implemented an In-Home Usage Test (IHUT) using a mixed-mode quantitative methodology. Field researchers visited eligible participants in their homes, completed a baseline questionnaire to verify screening criteria and quota requirements, and provided each woman with three confidentially coded handwash samples. A predefined product rotation was assigned to every participant to balance the order in which the three samples were tested and minimise potential order bias. From In-Home Distribution to CATI Follow-Up After the initial face-to-face visit and sample handover, the study continued through structured CATI follow-up interviews. Participants were contacted across three consecutive product-use days and asked to evaluate: • The experience during handwashing • Product feel and performance during use • The experience immediately after drying • Fragrance perception after use • Fragrance longevity over time • Overall reaction to each coded sample The same respondent identification and rotation records were maintained across all contact points, allowing the research team to connect each daily evaluation to the correct participant, product and testing sequence. The Main Challenge The greatest operational challenge was maintaining participant engagement across a multi-day in-home testing journey. Completing the baseline interview and delivering the samples represented only the first stage. The quality of the final dataset depended on each participant following her assigned rotation, using the correct product on the correct day and completing every scheduled CATI follow-up. Nexus JO maintained a live tracking system covering quota completion, sample distribution, product rotation and daily interview status. Field and CATI teams coordinated closely to identify pending interviews and follow up with participants before any gaps affected the final sample. Quota and Rotation Control Quota eligibility was verified during the baseline interview before samples were handed over. Each participant was assigned: • A unique respondent identification number • A verified quota group • Three coded product samples • A predefined testing rotation • A three-day CATI follow-up schedule Daily completion records were reconciled against the original baseline database. This enabled supervisors to monitor quota balance, rotation distribution and outstanding interviews throughout the study.

the Result

Nexus JO completed the full sample of 250 women and the complete multi-day research process within six days. The project combined carefully managed home distribution with structured telephone follow-up, while maintaining consistency across participant eligibility, product coding, testing rotation and daily questionnaire completion. The resulting dataset captured the consumer experience across several important moments of product use, from the washing experience to post-drying perceptions and fragrance longevity.
